2008/3/27 Why is the media in America so bad?To me at least, it looks as if the media in America is oriented towards people with limited interests and barely functional education. Most of the really smart people I know, listen to NPR. Which is about the only exception in the dribble. Yes, I know that NPR like BBC is a government sponsored entity, and that one can argue that it is the need of commercial media to appeal to most that leads to dumbing down the content. However, while this is true in general, my perception is in Europe, there is a slightly more educated bent to commercial media, especially when they are not just repeating programs from the good old USA. The lesson for me though is I have to keep avoiding this drivel and listen to NPR and BBC online. Where else can you find stories like this stating that Africans have valuable experience of conflict or learn about the works on Noam Chomsky. 2008/3/11 Computers will soon read mindsthe most exciting thing I saw in my trip to CeBIT in Germany was computer control using brain wave. Interestingly, I haven't seen any other write-up on it, until this article on slate.com. Newsflash people - the next frontier is bio-computing and brain-computer interaction will lead the way. 2008/3/7 Where is Yanni Ologun?Just surfing facebook and looking at some Greek girls' pictures. Just brought to mind my friend - Yanni Ologun from Abadina College. Where in the world is Yanni Ologun? |
