    What I want for Xmas or my 40th Birthday

    40th Birthday present.... which is approximately 7yrs and 9 months from now or 2,825 days from now.

    You know how guys are supposedly bugged out when they are 40? This would be an awesome birthday present - amongst many other nice things of course :)

    To Beta or Not To Beta

    One of the advantages of working at Microsoft, is the ability to try our product betas. And with that benefit is the opportunity to deal with the frustration that goes along with betas, with the hope that customers would not have to deal with those frustration.
     
    While, I would want all my readers to buy newer version of our product, I think it is also important that I share my experiences so that you can learn about the solutions that I get.
     
    Next year, we are coming up with a great set of products including Vista (yes, despite what you might have heard, if you are a techie you will like to take it for a ride), Office 2007, Server, Internet Explorer, Windows Media 11  and Communicator (an essential element of the product that I am working on now)
     
    Anywas - I have installed all of these products and many more however, my attempt to mainstream on these products have backfired - none worked satisfactorily on my main machine.
      • With Office 2007, Outlook will not start on my machine at all (and you can use old outlook with new rest of office yet).
      • With Vista, I am still waiting for some drivers.
      •  With IE, some websites don't work and you can't install it with the old version on the same machine (there might be an hack soon)
      •  With Windows Media 11, the radio feature is deprecated.
     
    After all these experiences, I had to roll back to a previous version of the product. This makes me very pissed, but by heck, I am not giving up. This weekend, I am going to store all my files on the network and get ready for wipe and reload on these machines.
